Rev. John Vrzak WHO IS JESUS? Christianity differs from all other religions. -Because it is the life of the Son of God living in man. -Jesus is the Subject of each book in the New Testament. -Jesus Fulfills all the Promises of God in the Old Testament, from His taking human form to His Second Coming. -Jesus is God made man, exalted above all creatures, Jesus has all power given Him in heaven and earth. Jesus is part of the God-Head: God the Father, God the Son, & God the Holy Spirit. THE GOD-HEAD OF JESUS CHRIST: -Jesus is called God by the Apostles John, and Thomas. -Jesus is called God by God the Father. Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. -Jesus was with the father before the world began. -Jesus received worship, and only God is to be worshiped. -Jesus forgives sin. Only God forgives sin. THE HUMANITY OF JESUS CHRIST: Romans 1:3 “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;” Romans 1:4 “And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:” He grew up as a normal human being. He was subject to all the infirmities of human nature: -He was Hungry. -He was Thirsty. -He was Weary. -He Wept. -He was Tempted. THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST: Luke 1:30 “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.” Luke 1:31 “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.” -The first hint of the Virgin Birth is found in Genesis, Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity (Hostility) between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Thy seed meaning Jesus). -The one to defeat Satan was to be born of the ‘Seed of the Woman’. (Seed usually applies to the man who impregnates the woman). -This is a biological miracle since there is no ‘Seed of the Woman.’ (Women have the Egg). From this, we are to understand that one was to be born of a woman without a human Father. Luke 1:34 “Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?” Luke 1:35 “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” ISAIAH PROPHESIED: Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” AGAIN ISAIAH PROPHESIED SAYING: Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. -This means that God gave us His Only Begotten Son. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -And the baby Jesus was born of a virgin. Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” -God gave us His Son unto us. John 3:17 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” -According to the prophecy, He was to be born in Bethlehem. -Joseph with Mary went up to Bethlehem to be taxed, and to fulfill prophecy. THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST: Philippians 2:8 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” The Death of Jesus was Natural: -By a natural death, we mean that His spirit and soul were separated from His body. The Death of Jesus was Unnatural: -By an unnatural death, we mean that since He was sinless, He did not sin, He had no sin, He Knew no sin. -Yet Before He Could Die, He had to be made sin for us. Therefore His death was unnatural. The death of Jesus was Supernatural: -Jesus said in, John 10:18 “No man takes life from me. I lay it down to myself, and I have the power to take it up again” (supernaturally). -He died on the cross, three days later; He took life up again when He arose from the dead. The Death of Jesus was Victorious: -He was God’s Substitute for sinners. -On the cross, Jesus Was Made Sin for the sinner. -By faith in Him the sinner is made righteous with the righteousness God. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST: Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. Matthew 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Matthew 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. -After His resurrection He appeared first to Mary Magdalene. -He appeared to the women returning from the sepulcher. -Then He appeared to Peter. -He appeared to the apostles, when Thomas was not with them. -He appeared again to the apostles, when Thomas was with them. -He appeared to seven disciples by the Sea of Tiberias -He appeared to over five hundred brethren -He was seen of James. -He was seen of Steven, the first martyr. -He was seen of Paul on his way to Damascus. THE EMPTY TOMB: -If Jesus is not alive today, then what happened to His body? -The Roman guards were paid to say that His disciples stole Him. Matthew 28:12 “And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,” Matthew 28:13 “Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.” -But the guards could have been put to death for sleeping while on watch. -It is evident that the governing officials did not believe the guard’s story. -If the guards were asleep, How could they have known that it was the disciples had stolen the body? -If the disciples had stolen His body, then how do you account for the fact that they All suffered, and most of them died a martyr’s death? -In fact, in the face of death, One of them would have revealed the hiding place of the body to save his life. -No one was ever arrested or tried for stealing the body of Jesus. -If the enemies of Jesus moved the body, They would have produced it and brought a quick end to Christianity. -The grave clothes in the empty tomb are proof of the resurrection. John 20:6 “Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,” John 20:7 “And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.” -Had someone stolen the body, they would not have removed the grave clothes, He had been dead three days and nights. -When John saw the grave clothes and recognized that they were folded the same Way as when they were wrapped about the body, He knew that a miracle had taken place. -When Jesus came out of the clothes, and they collapsed without disturbing the Folds. They were left in the empty tomb as ‘infallible proof.’ THE ASCENSION AND SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST: Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. Acts 1:10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. -After 40 days of instructing His disciples, Jesus ascended up to Heaven, -And is seated on the right hand of the Father. The message of the Second Coming of Jesus is so important, That it is mentioned over 300 times in the New Testament. -He is coming to Take His church to be with Him. -He is coming back to Judge the nations. -He is coming back to Save Israel. -He is coming to Sit upon the throne of David. Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: -Jesus is coming to Bring Righteous government to this earth. -Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth again. Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. GOD BLESS THE READING OF HIS WORD.
