Rev. Pamela Louise Flower 1946 - 2013 | Obituary Rev. Pamela Louise (Martin) Flower, 67, went home to be the Lord November 3, 2013. Born in Akron, Ohio on September 16, 1946, Pamela lived the last eleven years in Tallmadge. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Akron and was the first woman to attend and to graduate from Ashland Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Pamela was the first woman ordained in Eastminster Presbytery (Presbyterian Church U.S.A). Her historic ordination occurred in 1974. During her ministry, Pamela served several churches as pastor throughout Northeastern Ohio. Her final ministry was at Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church in Akron where she served 16 years as parish associate. In her ministry, she preached, gave communion, taught Sunday school, visited the homebound, and led Presbyterian Women bible study. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Alan Flower; and father, Albert Ford Martin. She is survived by daughter, Amanda May Flower of Tallmadge; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Thomas Flower and Nicole Lynn Flower of Akron; grandchildren, Isabella Yvonne Flower and Andrew Thomas James Flower; mother, Marjorie May Martin; and sister, Sandra Breyer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church, 1430 Goodyear Blvd. in Akron, with Rev. Nash officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., and one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorial donations can be made to Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church.
