Rev. R. Edwin King, one of my heroes. He was rejected membership in the Mississippi Methodist Conference for his liberal racial views. The black Mississippi Methodist Conference accepted King as a member. Edwin King completed his degree Boston University School of Theology in two parts, taking a break to join the Civil Rights movement in the South (earning two arrests and a hard labor sentence for his efforts). After graduation, he continued to campaign for civil rights and was a member of the Delta Ministry of the national and world councils of churches.
