Revealed: Kevin Prince Boateng not yet ruled out of Egypt match Footy-ghana can confirm that Schalke 04 midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng has not yet been ruled out of playing for Ghana against Egypt in a 2014 World Cup qualifier next week. Boateng was stretchered off during Schalke 04’s 4-1 win over Augsburg, sparking fears that he would be withdrawn from Ghana’s squad. Indeed, there is media speculation that Asante Kotoko forward Yahaya Mohammed may be called up as a replacement. Sources close to the Black Stars technical team have however told footy-ghana on Tuesday morning that Boateng is yet to be ruled out, with the technical team expecting to hear from the midfielder later this week. Footy-ghana gathers that Boateng will be given as much time as possible to stake a claim in Ghana’s team to face Egypt next week. Boateng was ruled out of Ghana’s last match against Zambia due to discomfort in his knee. The former AC Milan midfielder requires medical attention before every game he plays because of six previous surgeries on the same knee in the past.
