During his tenure as Superintendent, he oversaw the planting of several home missions churches, the most recent of which was New Hope Assembly of God in Urbandale. Additionally, he led his district and several congregations in purchasing multiple properties and in building several church buildings. Allan’s first responsibility as Superintendent was to move the district campground from Storm Lake to Ogden, Iowa. This was a huge endeavor that included the sale of all the buildings and equipment at the Storm Lake camp and a successful sale of the land, which Allan accomplished by developing the area into a neighborhood, complete with streets and lots of land for sale. The District purchased 200 acres near Ogden, Iowa in order to have a more central campground location. The Storm Lake camp was closed in the summer of 1973 and the new camp was built and ready for campers the very next summer. The new camp, which included a worship center, cafeteria, resident manager’s home, snack shop, dormitories and a swimming pool, was dedicated on June 29, 1974. The camp motel was dedicated in 1980, new boy dorms in 1984, cottages in 1985, and new girl dorms in 1989. The Ogden campground is still in operation and bearing fruit for the kingdom of God to this day. The district has renamed the campground the Sunstream Retreat Center. Allan was very proud of this accomplishment. Allan’s ministry extended beyond the borders of the Iowa district. He led three different tour groups to the holy land and attended the World Pentecostal Conference in London in 1976. He was honored as the keynote speaker at the National Missionary Conference in Haiti at the invitation of missionaries Russell and Ruth Schirman in 1979. He also spoke at both youth and children’s camps in Arizona and Northern Missouri. His other Iowa-based ministry endeavors also included several Children Crusades in Iowa churches with his ventriloquist doll and serving as the speaker for the Iowa youth and children’s camps. The seeds that Allan planted throughout his ministry career will surely continue to grow and blossom for many years to come.
