Review #225: Air Force One Along with Con Air came this other bonkers, plane-set action flick, that soars equally as high, if not more than its counterpart. Harrison Ford is the President of the USA, trapped on the worlds most secure (and unrealistically manoeuvrable) plane, as Gary Oldmans evil Russian psychopath threatens his family. Wolfgang Petersen directs this OTT American patriotism propaganda, creating one of the most tension-ridden, ridiculously enjoyable pieces of action cinema of the 90s (a feat attempted to be equalled by Roland Emmerichs White House Down). With a film this ludicrous, its hard to comment on performances, but Gary Oldman certainly earns his stripes as the insane antagonist Ivan. Watch with popcorn in hand and tongue in cheek for full effect. VERDICT: 4/5
