Review: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare “Call of Duty: - TopicsExpress

Review: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” is the newest game in the popular gaming franchise. Its release in early November sent people into a frenzy to get their hands on the game. Is the game worth all of the hype? “Advanced Warfare” offers three game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Exo Survival. The campaign story is attention-grabbing as well easy to follow. Kevin Spacey plays the part of Jonathan Irons, the CEO of the private military company called Atlas. When Irons is first met, he appears to be a nice guy from who is willing to help when he can. As the game progresses, his evil colors begin to show and he is only in it for the money. Jack Mitchell, the main character of the campaign, starts to see how corrupt Irons is and is dedicated to taking him down. Multiplayer is more advanced than in previous “Call of Duty” games even though the maps appear to be significantly smaller. Having smaller maps makes the sniper rifles in the game useless unless they are used for quick scoping. The laser guns in the game are far too overpowered as well. The exo (short for exoskeleton) is a cool feature that allows the player to double jump, slide and perform several other actions. Some of those abilities include cloaking, silenced footsteps and shielding. Players are also able to customize what their character looks like. On top of that, scorestreaks can also be customized, but this increases the amount of points needed in order to get them. Exo Survival is a game mode that resembles the zombie mode from past games. When starting off, there are only four maps. The rest of the maps are unlocked the more the game is played. Light, Heavy, and Specialist are the three exo classes that can be used and each has a set of positives and negatives. As points are scored by fighting through waves of enemies, supply drops fall and they contain either perks or scorestreaks. The guns, exo suits and scorestreaks can be upgraded with points earned for defeating each wave of enemies. Overall, “Advanced Warfare” is different from previous games in the series. Although it still has minor flaws, it is a fun game to play. If the “Call of Duty” franchise can build on this game, then they will continue to stay relevant in the gaming market.
