Review: The Killers Phoenix Park show A few thoughts on last night’s show in Phoenix Park. The boys came on stage quite late, around 9:25pm. There had been a couple of technical issues on stage as well as some sort of security scare near the back, not sure what but apparently there was some smoke. The crowd got a little impatient but as this was an Irish crowd, that meant lots of singing to try and encourage TK on stage. Finally the band arrived and kicked straight in to Somebody Told Me and then Spaceman. A fairly typical setlist followed including Bling and Shadowplay, no real surprises although I think We’re Alone now is worth a particular mention and just seems to be getting better and better. The crowd singalongs during Reasons and From Here On Out were fantastic, with everyone uniting and singing the crowd parts pretty much as soon as the first bars of the songs were played. There were obviously a lot of dedicated Victims there and Brandon held his hand up to stop us so he could get started at one point, as well as laughing at us when we missed a bit in Reasons. Dave and Brandon later played an acoustic version of U2’s Pride, a lovely moment. The band finished off with an encore of Jenny, When You Were Young and Mr Brightside. Battle Born was dropped to make the curfew, so we got an unexpected pyro display during Mr Brightside which even Brandon looked startled by! Finally, if anyone can confirm what Ronnie said at the end, that would be great! We thought he said “I’m really going to miss you” but according to BBFBTI on Facebook, he said “I want to go to the toilet” in Gaelic! Help please. My favourite bits: Spaceman (such a great song to get the crowd going), Miss Atomic Bomb pyro, Runaways, Brandon and Mark’s dancing, Brandon’s face at the singalongs, Ronnie’s drum solo (Rooooonnie! Roooooonnie!) , Pride cover, Mr Brightside finale. Just euphoric to see the band again after THAT NIGHT at Wembley and the Garage in London. Europe is going to miss TK, it truly has been a blast.
