Review of Half Girlfriend Well, this review can have many perspectives. But, lets talk about it in the easiest sense. I would just state the parameters and my comments on it. Title: Not apt at all. The mention of this term is limited in the book, and the plot has no proper relation with this. Any further information would be a spoiler. Cover: I dont know if the casual approach to the cover was deliberate, just to enhance that no story is perfect, or something, but the cover wasnt that good. Writing Style: Many people comment about Chetan, saying that he is a blotch to Indian literature and all that. But, if you ask me, he drove the whole plot, using the correct cocktail of short and realistic dialogs, over preachy and dreamy ones, and his usual, straight forward - tell all, show nil, description style. May be that is why, the flow of the story was nice. Plot: Chetan forgot that it is a book, and not a movie. Mohit Suri would surely make a lot of money after its adaptation, and for a change, if you are tired of the boring and biting reality, this book is both amusing, and light read, with a dramatic climax. But keep in mind - stop hunting for literary prowess in this book. This is a light read, that would eventually make you feel good, but would do little good to improve your literary skills or experience. Characters and scenes - With such little details, the character still maintains a constancy in them. Talking about the scenes, while a few scenes are cute, a handful may help you get a quick sleep. Also there is an international celebrity in this book, who plays a guest appearance. Let that be a surprise! Overall Verdict: This book is going to be a blockbuster movie, is NOT A LITERARY PIECE, and is a feel good book, with a dramatic story. My Ratings - 3.5
