Reviewing both the local newspapers Top 100, makes me want to discuss the negative effect former Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe love and support have had on the Big 12. A&M left for the SEC. They are taking 14 of the Top Recuits. 28 recruits are going out of state. How did it help the Big 12 to have ONE team that won all of the games? The major effect is the rise of the SEC and the continued trend of losing key players to other schools because they knew if you werent at UT, your chances of showcasing your talents were mediocre at best. Texas not getting all the calls has helped the Big 12 launch programs that get both state and national attention now, but one has to wonder how great the Texas schools and the Big 12 would be if all of our hometown heroes stayed in Texas. You know, home.
