Reviewing the Agenda of Prosperity! The President and his government recently launched the national blue print title “Agenda for Prosperity” at the Miatta Conference Hall on the 12 July, 2013. The cover page of the document is named “Road to the Middle Income Status. However, the term itself “prosperity” require explicit explanation according to contextual meaning,” is the state of being flourishing, thriving, good fortune and successful social status”. In view of this, Social Worker Sierra Leone is concern and passionate about the success of this document. Base on the document, the government emphasis strongly with fine words as to how they determine to achieve this. The document almost touches everyone who shows the boldness of government and the understanding of their role in governance. The document is made up of eight pillars; and according to pillar six in the document which talks about ‘Social Protection’- “Economic growth has not reduced poverty, inequality and vulnerability to risks, which are widespread and multidimensional. Over half the population lives in poverty; 45% of households are food insecure. Inequality based on gender, age, location, education and income impacts livelihoods. Malnutrition is widespread; while female barriers to education include high teenage pregnancy and early marriage. Social Protection services, needed to help address poverty issues, are fragmented and inadequate in coverage and targeting. Only free health care and education have been extensive, but implementation is uneven”. Says pillar six in the document. Therefore, the aforementioned will be the vocal point of this medium with strong concern to ensuring that it becomes a success and it reflect the beneficiaries. This is the time we should widen our compassion. Prosperity cannot only be determined by infrastructures, but the confidence of the less privilege.
