Rewatching the hobbit movies. The CGI is really groundbreaking with what theyve been able to accomplish. They basically filmed every scene twice on two semi identical sets from the exact same angle. However, this limited them in a lot of unexpected ways. Almost all the scenes involve very basic angles and setups. The acting is the worst of the series because Ian Mckellan is never in the same room as the dwarves. Hes not acting, hes just being told what to say. It feels almost too campy. They cant use the bokeh effect because of the dwarf film technique. So that means that a lot of the shots seem unnatural. It really kills it in the long run.
