Rewind retro video of the day... By Allens request in celebration of tonights Dark Rewind, here is Tears for Fears with their 1983 single Change from the debut 82 album The Hurting. Chart positions: Top-80 on the US Hot 100 and Cash Box charts; Top-40 in Australia, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the US Top Tracks chart; Top-20 in Canada; Top-10 in Ireland and Poland; and Top-5 in South Africa and the UK. After 89s release of The Seeds of Love, tensions rose between Roland Orzabal (vocals, guitars, keyboards) and Kurt Smith (vocals, bass guitars, keyboards). Smith had a stressful divorce from his first wife Linda the previous year, and he wanted to slow down the pace of TFFs work. But Orzabal was a bit of a micromanager when it came to their music, with an intricate yet frustrating (to Smith) approach to production. This was made worse when their band manager Paul King, who owned the Outlaw Management Agency, was accused of financial mismanagement in 90. With £1 million in debt, King declared bankruptcy and was later convicted of fraud. During all this, Orzabal became increasingly concerned that Smith didnt want to drop King as their manager. This all got to be too much for Smith, and he left the band acrimoniously in 91, not speaking to Orzabal for almost a decade. Orzabal kept the TFF name and released 2 albums, Elemental (93) and Raoul and the Kings of Spain (95). Smith went solo and recorded the dismal Soul On Board (93). In 00, the duo reestablished contact when Orzabal signed a business document on Smiths behalf. The two had dinner and decided to work again that evening. The result was 04s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending. https://youtube/watch?v=W7t7gKh0qIM
