Rice signed a five-year, $40 million contract extension in July - TopicsExpress

Rice signed a five-year, $40 million contract extension in July 2012. almost half of which he already received as a $$signing bonus. I am guessing that the standard Personal conduct escape clause in all NFL contracts is going to allow the Ravens to demand return of 60% of that Bonus Money, and so will Not have to count that huge chunk of $cash against their teams total salary cap number. Rice will certainly be able to ask for, and should receive reinstatement in the NFL after a year (i.e. IF any team owner and GM want to give him another shot to play.) considering the precedent that the NFL has already set by granting reinstatement to the Cowboys D-Lineman who spent almost a year in prison for vehicular homicide while driving drunk! The big difference there is that these days, good Defensive Lineman are in demand, and much harder to find than a good, young running back. I wonder if Ray will head up to Canada next Spring, and play (probably for 10% of what he was being paid here,) if hes willing to risk injury there?
