Richards Renovations: They are back, my utterances. I planned to paint a bedroom, simple just paint it, it is a room that I have been using for storage, never looked too closely till the other day, realised on the inside of the external facing masonry wall that it has cracks. It would be an immense job to repair these crack with no guarantee that they would not redevelop. Solution glue plasterboard to that wall. This involves taking off window architraves, skirting boards and cornice. Have removed the window architraves, the previous person had nailed this to the frame with oversized nails resulting in damage and splits to the beautiful western red cedar architrave timbers, which I will have to repair. Lots of dust and muck from what has accumulated for perhaps 100 years, wear breathing apparatus Richard. Check am doing that. Also discovered that some lunatic ran an electrical power chord down the face of one of the window architraves and covered it in filler and blended it in a curve into the wall, this goes up through the ceiling....dont know if it is live yet. These old building sure make life interesting........................................................
