Richi Qi : Where to begin...... The real root of repression lies fundamentally in the mental delusions and distractions propagated by polarity consciousness - the compulsion to perceive things in absolute terms, its black or its white, its this or its that. While life and concepts are perceived in these terms and while language is used to support this dysfunctional perception, our ability to think is retarded, as too is our ability to engage in constructive dialogue. In fact debates that are inspired from polarity consciousness are mostly irrelevant and have no rational grounding, despite the feeling that theyre significant in some way. It being all their fault or all our fault is just the kind of perceptual pitfall symptomatic of this dysfunctional thinking. All of life is in perpetual interface with its environment. Our experience is symbiotic. The government exists and therefore has influence, likewise we exist and therefore have influence. This isnt an exciting headline for the ego as there is nothing overtly to identify with or to be in opposition to. It is simply the way of things, and the closer we are to authentically experiencing the way of things, the more truly empowered we are to create positive influence in our own lives and in our environment. The success of the new era activists including Russell Brand, is indicative of this empowerment, and thus they were highly efficient and successful in influencing events. They recognised there were external forces influencing their lives, and likewise recognised that they had influence themselves and so actively focussed on the latter reality. Both Brands dialogue and his actions are represented in the dynamics of the new era activists success. The other exciting thing about Brands output is that he forever dissects and exposes the folly of polarity framed debates, and the disease of ad hominem. Awareness of which, as explained above are possibly the most crucial elements in cultivating deeper understanding, more rational dialogue, and a constructive culture co-created by empowered individuals and communities.
