Richie Havens passed away a month after Ten Years After guitarist Alvin Lee. He was 72. If anyone else on FB remembers, I had decided one day to document all his performances at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, the Fillmore East in New York and the Fillmore West in San Francisco during the late 60s and early 70s. I did that simply out of the blue. It was a lot of work, but I got everything done that day. The next day Havens of course passed away. Of course, like a lot of music fans, I was saddened by his passing. I had seen him perform at Celebrate Brooklyn in 2007 and he was simply magnificent. Frankly the coincidental timing of my documentation of his Fillmore concerts and his death unnerved me at first him. But then I gradually realized I did honor him by my documentation even if obviously that was not my original intent. What a great musician, a wonderful person and a dedicated humanitarian!!!!! His opening performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival as shown in the 1970 movie will live on forever in the annals of great performances. RIP Mr Havens.
