Rick Hartzog has just posted a note in another thread here which I think is worthy of special note. https://facebook/permalink.php?story_fbid=582080968593243&id=339508739517135 From: Rick Hartzog Date: Friday, December 12, 2014 Time: About 9:15 AM MT Man, the law is pretty clear. - There has to be two or more transactions in one day. See, I dont think Hovinds main problem is that hes crazy. Hes just a deliberate liar who, at one time, was raking in lots and lots of money with his lies. Even a crazy person should be able to understand, after all these years, the difference between having bank transactions totalling more than $10,000 in one day reported to the IRS, and *structuring* those transactions so they *dont* get reported. He had enough sense to structure those transactions for a number of years, and the jury was convinced that he engaged in that activity with the *intent* of evading the reporting requirements. He has enough sense to know he doesnt want to deal with your (Robert Batys) proposition for debate -- Walk away. Walk away, he says. He has enough sense to switch horses mid-stream, changing evading from referring to reporting requirements to referring to paying taxes. Hes just a liar, plain and simple. Kent was bringing in over a million dollars a year for several years and NONE of it was reported to the IRS. None of it! Kent has constructed some elaborate excuses about his financial activity that his followers are willing to believe, but those fantasy excuses dont hold up in court when placed side-by-side with fact and law, just as Kents bogus scientific claims dont hold up when placed side-by-side with the actual evidence, which Kent misrepresents to his followers just as he is now misrepresenting what the law is, as it applies to him. Maybe his followers are crazy for believing his nonsense, but I think Kent is more calculating, holding out hope that hell soon be out of prison and back on the gravy train, as long as he maintains his innocence. But Ive got news for Kent and his followers: IF Kent should get out of prison and return to business-as-usual, hell be right back in the slammer, and the next time hes not going to get just a slap-on-the-wrist 10 year sentence. ----------------------------------------------------
