Rickie Lambert can be a very good signing for Liverpool FC – according to Reds legend Jamie Carragher . The England frontman moved to Anfield last week in a £4m deal from Southampton, becoming Brendan Rodgers first signing of the summer. At 32, Lamberts capture is not seen as one for the long-term, but Carragher believes with Liverpool competing on both domestic and European fronts next season, it will prove a shrewd move by the club. I think its a very good signing, he said. Hes a local boy, a Liverpool fan, and its probably been a dream for him. Therell be lots of games with Liverpool being involved in the Champions League, so hell play his part and Im sure hell get some goals. Lambert served notice of his goalscoring ability by netting in Englands friendly draw with Ecuador in Miami on Wednesday, his third goal in five international appearances. He will be one of six Liverpool players in Roy Hodgsons squad for the World Cup, which gets underway in Brazil next week, and Carragher says he is keen to see all of the Reds stars do well on the big stage. He said: Im eager for them all to do well - also Suarez, who is playing against England, so thatll be difficult. I think England will qualify from the group and then who knows who theyll get in the draw. Its normally the quarter-finals for England, and I think itll be the same again. I think Brazil will win it. Theyre at home, which is always a big advantage. Its been a long time for Brazil not winning the trophy. They played very well last summer in the Confederations Cup, so I put them as favourites. #raj_07
