Riders are asking Why is there a tire width and PSI restriction at Silver Lake now that there is snow? The tire and psi restrictions are part of IMBAs best practices for preserving both the groomed surface and the trail tread. The county has invested in grooming equipment and volunteers are donating their time to make Silver Lake a winter biking destination. Narrower tires create ruts in the groomed surface and can damage the trails under the snow in certain conditions. One careless rider can erase hours of grooming effort and waste money spent of fuel to run the grooming equipment. Please understand that the policies that weve presented are the same nation-wide and have been established by IMBA and are in place to protect this public resource.
