Riding in my car before I saw a father pedaling on his bicycle - TopicsExpress

Riding in my car before I saw a father pedaling on his bicycle ahead of his young son. They were on the same road I was driving on. The boy was quite small, maybe only seven or eight. He was struggling to stay upright on his bike. I pulled slowly next to the father and said that I thought it would be best if he rode behind his son instead of in front of him. Anger flushed the fathers face red. I was very polite and gentle but it was an affront to his dominance. And I thought about this as I peacefully drove away. The best kind of father is not the one who goes out front in the leads his son everywhere, but rather the one who gets behind him and guards him, with full wisdom and protection, while he lifts the son to his fullest potential. There is a time and place for leading, certainly, but not when it exposes your little trusting babe to potential disaster.
