Right as some of you know I recently returned from EGX 2014 and I - TopicsExpress

Right as some of you know I recently returned from EGX 2014 and I want to share my thoughts on all the games which I saw and played while there so prepare for a tl:dr post: Alien: Isolation (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbone, 360): Pretty nerve gripping. You can sense the alien is always there searching for you and it makes the game feel very desperate as you try to escape it. The AI is quiet dynamic and always acts differently each time you play it. Assassins creed: rogue (PS3, 360): Assassins creed 4 but in the arctic sea. Seriosuly though 2 AC games this year. Thats overkill stop it Ubisoft. Assassins creed: Unity (PC, PS4, Xbone): I wasnt all that impressed. They stated that you do the assassination anyway you wanted but its basically showing you the best path to doing this. The rest of the game was the same as a previous AC game. The crowds were impressive though. Batman Arkham Knight (PS4, Xbone, PC): This looks like its going to be a fun game including my favourite batman supervillian (scarecrow) as well as giving the Arkham knight an objective in the game without giving too much away for why he wants this. The car looks fun to use but i wonder how long they going to have to keep saying dont worry there just robot drones theres no one inside those cars. Battlefield: Hardline(PC, PS3, PS4, Xbone, 360): Its no different than any other battlefield game. Seriously they just painted it with a cop theme and said done. Okay some of the modes are different but if it was the cops and robbers edge then they shouldve changed up the way the game is played. Perhaps an asymmetric multiplayer game instead. Just a waste of time. Bloodbourne(PS4): Its basically demon souls (soz havent played the dark souls games yet still on demon souls). Theyve removed magic and replaced it with guns but it plays and feels like demon souls. Personally died to quickly to get a good idea of the game (the demo ends once you die) but still looks like it will be a good game and graphics on it look fantastic. Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel (PC, PS3, 360): Borderlands 2 but on the moon. This time though the characters seem to interact more with the story then they use to. BroForce(PC, PS4, Vita): This was such a laugh to play. It was a mad cap 2d platform shoot em up using parodies of 80 action hero characters. It was mad cap quick moving actioner which is for me a definite must own Captain toad Treasure Tracker (WiiU): This is a full game of the captain toad levels from super mario 3D World. I personally enjoyed these levels and am looking forward to getting a whole game of these levels. Destiny(PS3, PS4, Xbone, 360): I found this a rather generic shooter. You have gun, you point gun at things, things fall down. Found this rather unimpressive. Dragon Age: Inquisation (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbone, 360): This really piqued my interest. Its seems theyve opened up the combat giving a mixture of both previous games to make the gameplay much more fluid moving. It looks like theyve learned from their past mistakes as the environments are much more varied then the one cave of DA2. The playable demo was for the multiplayer and i have to say it was a blast to get through the level as a team working together to get to the end goal. Won a t-shirt for beating the demo for this. Dream(PC): I didnt understand this. For a while I was a awake in the game then went to sleep where I was in an endless white corridor doing nothing. Feels like one of those directionless games which tries to say more then it gives. DriveClub(PS4): This felt like a more Arcady Gran Turismo. The cars felt much easier to drive and rewards for skilful driving. This might be a good game and I keep an eye on it. Elite: Dangerous (PC): There really much to go from the demo. The concept sounds interesting but i will have to see if they can actually keep to it (open world space flight sim where you can decide your own path such as becoming a mechant, smuggle or pirate). Still the game was fun especially using a joystick. Evolve(PC, PS4, Xbone): This is a really fun asymettric multiplayer game where its 4 vs 1. Each party has their own powers and special abilities and must take down there opposing team. I can see this being a blast to play and change the meaning of a boss battle especially when you are playing as the monster itself. Far Cry 4(PC, PS3, PS4, Xbone, 360): Far cry 3 but more vertical. Was a blast circling the base in the 1 man copper and chunking grenades down on the enemies below. Hyrule Warriors (WiiU): Dynasty Warriors with zelda characters. Induction (PC): An interesting cube moving puzzle game which uses replay time mechanics to make up some interesting puzzles. Kirby And the Rainbow Curse (WiiU): Kirby basically is turned into a ball which you can alter the path where kirby goes and speed him up to hurt enemies. Personally felt that kirby was rather slow but it was an alright game. Lara croft and the temple of Osiris (Xbone, PS4, PC): Felt like the previous top down Lara croft game with 4 players. The extra 2 players though are just duplicates of the main 2. Not really that interesting. Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Wii U, 3DS, PS4, PS3, Vita, 360, Xbone, PC): The hit detection felt a bit off. Felt like any other Lego game. LittleBigPlanet 3(PS4): LBP with some new characters. The characters were very fun to play with and could alter the way the game is played especially with the creation section of the game. Middle-Earth: Shadow of mordor(PC, PS4, PS3, Xbone, 360): I was not expecting this. This really took me by surprise. I was expecting a linear hack and slash game but found a open world game with some interesting powers in your arseneal and some challenging objectives which must be met. I may consider purchasing this. Monster Hunter 4 (3DS): I can see this game being fun but I found the camera annoying to use. Mortal Kombat X (PC, PS4, PS3, Xbone, 360): Mortal Kombat 9 but with new characters. Mushroom 11(PC): A game where you control a large green goo by deleting parts of its body so that it can be rebuilt in other areas in the game. I can see this being an interesting and unique game but could be hampered by the fact you cant control where the goo will regrow. Nosgoth(PC): This was a quiet fun to play multiplayer games with melee characters up against ranged users. I did find the melee types where a bit overpowered but that could be balanced out. Quantum Break (Xbone): This was just the E3 gameplay preview again. It looks like an interesting game with its own mechanics but I had seen all this before so was rather unimpressed. Splatoon(Wii U): A different take on the shooter genre and I could easily see this as a junior shooter for new people to get into the genre. The idea of the game is to get the most area covered in your own teams colour and so set its self away from other game in this genre. Sunset Overdrive(Xbone): It was colourful with some interesting guns but gameplay wise its nothing not seen before. Ultimately was played like a tower defence game. Not a system seller to me. Super Smash Bros (Wii U, 3DS): Played this on the 3ds and felt like a smash bros game. Im still excited for this game but Im not expecting much change from previous instalments. Worked quiet well on the 3DS The Evil Within (PC, PS4, PS3, Xbone, 360): This was a decent stealth horror were you have your own arsenal but still very weak in the world which you wander about in. Could be a very good horror game but the demo didnt feel very scary. Perhaps this will be scary the further you get but for now the scares were very limited. The Order: 1886 (PS4): Feel like a bland third person shooter. Nothing I havent played before I really need to see the supernatural section of this game to get a better idea of what it be like but mostly unimpressed. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PC, PS4, Xbone): The more i see of this the more i want. Considering how good the previous games in the series were, how big the game is going to be for an open world RPG and the fact that all of your actions will have their consequences on the world. I cannot see this being anything but a fantastic RPG. Total war: Attila (PC): I havent played much of the total war series but this felt like a total war game. It introduces barricades which can be mounted but act like a way of slowing any impending forces. Still it got me interested in playing a total war game again especially since I was able to beat the demo and was rewarded for it with a free t-shirt (3 times to big for me). Yoshis wooly world (Wii U): Kirbys epic yarn meets Yoshis island Also on other notes the hotel was horrendously small and Keith Amoahs snoring was horrendously loud. Still was a fun trip and probably do it again next year.
