Right guys. I know some of you would like to replace the 3 belts on your e50s. Dont be afraid to do this job as its only nuts and bolts. Give yourself a good hour an half of time. I can do it in half an hour but then Id be showing off lol. As I dont have a computer or laptop at the moment this is off my phone. Ok. Step 1: for ease remove your battery and the big black pipe on the right hand side of the engine. This is held on by a couple of jubilee clips. Step 2 Aircon belt: looking down behind the radiator you can see the smaller of the belts. On the top pulley there is a 10mm/11mm bolt adjuster. On the front of the same pulley there is a 22mm nut that needs to be slackened. Do not take the nut off!!!!!! Once loose go back to the bolt on the top and start to undo. This will then release the belt for removal. Step 3 Power steering belt: The power steering unit nuts/bolts need to be slackened. Picture 3 shows the first nut. Just slacken. Theres no need to remove the nut. The second bolt in the yellow circle is located under the steering units pulley. Again just slacken. No need to remove. Now on the top of the unit is the adjuster bolt. Green circle. Undo unto belt is released. Now to remove the belt this needs to be placed between the radiator fan blades. Then turn the fan round by hand and lift the belt. Bit fiddly. Nearly there! Step 3 Aux/Fan belt: To the right of the alternator there is a bolt which holds a small plate attached to a wire harness. Remove the bolt and plate. Dont lose the bolt. Once removed the adjuster bolt can be slackened. You will also need to slacken the lower alternator bolt to allow the alternator to rock/move. Push alternator towards the engine to allow to release the belt. The belt needs to be removed the same way as the power steering belt. Refit new belts in reverse order. Make sure you tighten all nuts and bolts. I know this isnt the best how to guide. As I have said this is off my phone. If anyone gets stuck please message.
