Right guys its the start of a new year on Monday. This is gonna be a huge first year for our cardiff facility. Ive had a huge amount of messages off you people telling me that you are gona make a fresh start in the new year so now is your chance. The most difficult step is to step into the gym for the first time. We have something for everyone. If you are looking to do martial arts for fitness, self defence or competition then we have something for everyone. We have a professional, experienced and successful coaching team with a proven record of taking fighters to the highest level in Europe. Millions of people have made new years resolutions. Next Monday I will have the biggest class of the year. Its always been this way. People will say Im gonna have a go at mma/boxing/kickboxing/jiujitsu. The first week of the year is so busy. People turn up with the best of intentions but with no idea just how hard the game is. The majority of people are impatient, they think everything will fall into place in a few weeks. They want a black belt in two years. They think they will be ready to compete in a few months. Parents asking when will their child be able to have a new coloured belt even though they only train once a week. All of this is just an illusion. Anyone that has trained a serious martial art knows that this is a life long journey and it takes years of hard work to be compitent. Some people have egos and leave after one session because they cant handle the reality that some 16 yr old kid who is 3 stone lighter just annialated them on the mat. You can walk away at this point or tell yourself this is something I need to learn The best advise I can give you all is if you decide to take up martial arts is this - give it 100%. Turn up, be humble, listen to what is being taught, ask questions if you dont understand, train hard, be consistent and train regular, be diciplined and turn up to train even when you have had a tough day at work, Set yourself small monthly targets, Enjoy training, Make training part of your lifetyle, Eat and drink more healthier. Combat sports is a tough journey and its not for everyone but it may be for you so Come and give it a go and enjoy it. Discipline and consistency are key to success. I owe everything I have achieved to these two things. Things have never happened overnight. Results have appeared as a consequence of years of sacrifice and hard work. Be persistent with your approach. 99% of people will eventually take the easy option and walk away from the sport. Be the 1% and achieve. If you decide to make martial arts part of your life you will benefit both physically and emotionally. Make the step and challenge yourself. See you all soon.
