Right, having been nominated by Anna Graham to name 10 (or fewer, but that was never going to happen!) books which have stayed with me all my life, and without thinking about it for too long or being too clever, as if thats possible, here goes... The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien, obviously The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliffe, starring the first hero-love of my life, Marcus Aquilus Warrior Scarlet also by Rosemary Sutcliffe and probably some others too! The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper, and the rest of the series The One Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith, sooooo much better than any of the film versions The Spanish Bride by Georgette Heyer The Conqueror by Georgette Heyer, 2 great historical novels which have led me on to read more, both fiction and non-fiction about these periods The Last of the Wine by Mary Renault and a number of her other books Mansfield Park by Jane Austen - as I grew older, my feelings about the ending changed a number of times from one reading to the next Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey and others in the series OK, thats 10(ish)! I may have thought about it all a bit too much but I promise to stop now, even though Im thinking of more every moment ;-) So now I must nominate Jo Morris, Jennifer Patel and Sarah Fitzsimmonds to list your books, and tag me in the message. Go!
