Right now, Enbridge is working on a plan to pipe tar sands oil across Southern Ontario forcing it through major cities and over giant rivers. One spill could be devastating but we can still help stop it. The plan is completely outrageous: they want to take a 38 year-old pipeline designed to carry normal oil and use it to pump tar sands through densely populated neighbourhoods from Sarnia to Montreal. Tar sands oil isn’t like normal oil, it’s “hot liquid sandpaper,” and sending it through our communities and drinking water in an aging pipeline could spell disaster, but with a loud enough call we can still get Ontario’s premier to step in. Quebec is already demanding an environmental assessment and Ontario’s premier said she’ll put environmental concerns at the forefront.
