Riidas radio show - Arashi Discovery - July 1st 2014 - Blue Maintains Its Character Translation by Twosen LJ: Good morning. This is Arashis Ohno Satoshi. Here’s the thought of the day; come on! Blue is the only color which maintains its own character in all its tones. [BGM ‘Miracle Summer’] Blue, huh? This is a quote by French artist who was active from the 19th to 20th century, Raoul Dufy-san. This was sent in by listener Cosmos-san. The message reads: Even if you darken blue with black, it still remains blue. If you dilute blue with white, it gains various nuances but never loses its characteristic blue, and is the only colour to do so. I happened to go to the Dufy exhibition in Tokyo and heard this through the audio guide I listened to there. Oh-chan, what colour do you like? I see. I like blue, too. As for why, well, if were talking Arashi member colours... Im blue. Well, not that it has to do with anything. But well, Ive always liked blue since long ago. Sure, there are all sorts of blue. Theres the colour of the sea, right? But even when I paint, I definitely include blue in there somewhere. Mm. And then I wear a lot of blue too. Eh? Im wearing it today. Shall I tell you what Im wearing today? Jeans - blue. Underwear - navy. Well, thats a dark blue, right? Then my t-shirts black. And then Im wearing a short-sleeved shirt over my t-shirt. Thats sort of navy and red, I guess? In stripes. Well, if you talk about it overall, my percentage of blue is high. Yeah. So I like blue. Probably. I mean, I, well... there are those really pretty blues, right? When I go buy art supplies, I often think that. Even though I dont need to buy them, I just end up buying those blues when I see them. Mm. I figure Ill include them somewhere. I guess I really just like blue. Mm. Blue is calming, isnt it? At one stage, like, my mum put up blue curtains in my room. And for my bed, too. I wonder why? (laughs) I guess it seemed calming. So I guess it was good that that was all blue. Yeah, so probably for my next painting, Ill probably include a fair bit of blue. Yeah. I was already thinking of that. Mm. Well, Ill still add in various colours. Mm, Ill use blue. Rest assured though, folks, it wont become a blue painting. Ill keep an eye on the balance. Yeah.
