Riley has had a great day. He was at football practice early this - TopicsExpress

Riley has had a great day. He was at football practice early this morning! (Bring on school, we got this!). We usually leave after the first session before it gets to hot. He stayed in his chair and we hung out at the house before we had to leave for therapy. Sydney and I ran errands while he was at therapy but managed to get back to see him working on his arms. Someday he will use those arms again! His congestion is almost gone and did awesome today! Huge difference than last Friday. This week has been an emotional roller coaster for me and I know for Jason as well. I always worked so being at football practice was never something I did. Jason and of course other dads seem to always show up at different times checking it out. (still dont get that, lol). This week though Im there and I want more than anything to hear the coaches say good job Sprowl or what are you thinking! I want to find him in the line of boys running after practice is over! I want to to tell him to get those stinky cleats out of the doorway! I want to be excited for his sr year of playing football. He worked so hard year after year to be on that field. I wasnt ready for his last game to have been played last season. This week though despite emotional on being selfish and how hard it is just to be at the stadium it has had so many blessings! Riley wants to be there. He gets up so early to start his morning so we are there by 7. He loves rolling out on that field and being with his teammates. He loves helping coach. His attitude isnt sad but good. You cant tell me God isnt good, for Riley to have the attitude he has, it takes God giving him the peace with his new life. Riley could be angry but he isnt! Blessings to get a message from a mom telling me her son is inspired to see Riley there so he is working harder. Blessing to know the team prays after each practice and are thankful for Riley. Blessing because although its not how we thought he would finish his football days he is here and is apart of the team and will help them in a way we could never have imagined. Rileys 2 a days workouts are no longer about a football field but about regaining any kind of physical ability to be independent. Working hard all these years for football (and baseball) has made him who he is today-someone who doesnt give up because the challenge is hard. He is being tested like no other but is facing it head on. So a week of emotions but a week of so many blessings. Yes, I may have struggled for the loss of what we thought it would be but happy for the blessing of what is. Please continue to pray for Riley. Pray that his lungs continue to clear of any congestion. Pray for strength and that he continues to always be upbeat despite the obstacles each day. Karla
