Riley has had several great days! I think he is finally over the congestion as he hasnt needed to cough now for a few days! Yay! He finished up the week strong and has had a great weekend. Thankful! Yesterday he rested then hung out with the Burge boys so Jason and I could attend a wedding. He loves them and being at their house! They are all at the movies now so he is wrapping his weekend up with friends! Tomorrow is the start of a full week and Im hoping back to schedule! He has school and therapy and is looking forward to both. Plus he wants to get the Christmas decorations done in the house! He has always been our kid that was big on traditions and making sure the holidays were special and would never let me change anything. It has to be done the same way each year. Thursday as I was putting him in his bed he realized that he wouldnt be able to sneak a look at the presents after Santa came! It broke my heart and I wanted to cry but Riley being Riley and his amazing acceptance looked at me and laughed. He said well mom I would say Syd can do it and report back but we both know she will never want to get out of bed! He then finished with but she can sleep with me so its ok. Normally they slept in the same bed on Christmas Eve, always have and I think always will. Again, Im fighting back the tears but he was laughing talking about all the memories those two spent waiting on Santa to arrive! He is with us and there is no better gift than that. Blessings! Sydney will be home for winter break on Friday and he is already talking about how hes going to pick on her! I think it will be a great and eventful month! I reminded him today that it will soon be a year and most employees get 2 weeks vacation after working for a year. He let me know he doesnt give out vacation days and for me to forget about it! Im always saying he is the worst employer I have ever worked for! Long hours, no pay and never satisfied! He loves knowing that and gets joy out of cutting me no slack! I say this with so much love as Riley and I definitely have made the best out of our new normal along with Jason and Sydney but Riley and I are together all the time. We dont let it define us but instead face it every day head on and with as many laughs (and mom tears) as possible. I love the relationship we had before the accident as it prepared us for life after the accident. Actually Riley doesnt cut to many any slack and if you are around him long enough you know he is still Riley and he wouldnt have it any other way! Riley is stronger than anyone I know. God has shown him so much love. Please continue to pray for Riley. Pray that he continues being healthy and is able to work hard during therapy. Also, that he gets his appetite back so he can put the few pounds back on that he lost while sick. Karla
