Rio 2016 sailing hopefuls, Alec Anderson and Chris Brockbank are in Spain getting ready for the Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships where they will be representing the BVI in the 49er fleet. The duo will face tough competition in a series of races which will see 88 teams compete from 33 nations. The 49er fleet will kick off its competition on September 15 with the start of the qualification series and will conclude on September 16 with five races scheduled over the opening two days. The Sailing World Championships are the most important event organized by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). They are held every four years and bring together all Olympic classes in a single competition. This is the principal qualification event for the Olympic Sailing Competition. The port city of Santander is the capital of the autonomous community and historical region of Cantabria situated on the north coast of Spain.
