Riot Grrrl was a movement with roots in feminism and queer - TopicsExpress

Riot Grrrl was a movement with roots in feminism and queer activism that involved very diverse communities of color, gender, and activism. It was not, as commonly misperceived, just a response to a white boy punk scene conducted by a small group of white, middle-class, college-educated, cisgendered females. In this brief set of interviews, artists and zine makers remember Riot Grrrl—and zines in particular—as their entry point to different forms of activism and expression in the 90s. --- From Alien She, the first exhibition to examine the lasting impact of Riot Grrrl.
