Ripley Announcements 1> RULH HIGH SCHOOL is ranked 154 in the nation for the Vocabulary Vocabulary Bowl. Lets break 100 this week! Remember, you can play anytime you have an internet connection. 2> Friday OCT 31 is the RULH Word Herd PUNNY Halloween Costume Contest. Dress as your favorite play on words and win lunch from a local restaurant. Teachers and students can play. Voting will take place in HR for the best student costume and the best teacher costume. Examples are in the hall and teachers have some sheets with additional ideas as well! 3> The following people should report to Ms. Fannin on Wednesday if they are not in RTI. Morgan Bahnsen, Shaunee Bruce, Christian Bradford, Jordan Carpenter, Paige Fulton, Logan Klump, Isaac Yeager, Carlie Higle, Timothy Huffman, Michael Highfield, Cody Hesler, Dalton Kearns, Noah Rowley, Trenton Smith, Nick Vaughn, Cheyenne Kirk Haunted Halloween Dance Friday, October 31 7p - 10p. Admission $6. If you come in costume then $1 will be taken off the admission price. Prizes will be given for the top three costumes in each of the following categories: Scariest, Ugliest, Prettiest, Funniest, and Best Couple Costume. The fall sports dinner will be held on Wednesday, October 29 at 6:00 here at the high school. Volleyball players should bring salads, cross country and boys soccer team should bring vegetables, golf team should bring fruit and girls soccer team members should bring dessert. There is a sign up sheet in the office. YOU MUST SIGN UP TODAY SO THAT THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT KNOWS HOW MUCH FOOD TO ORDER!!! There will be a fundraising meeting for the Costa Rica trip on Tuesday, October 28th at 6:00 in Ms. Douglas room. Freshman students interested in the Upward Bound Math and Science Program must have their completed application and autobiography submitted to Mr. Flannery by Friday, October 31. The Ripley Womens Club will host a Scholarship Application Seminar for seniors on Thursday, November 6 and Thursday, November 20 at the Ripley Library. The seminars begin at 7pm and parents are strongly encouraged to attend. The Student Ambassador Team from Southern Hills Career Technical Center will be here on Monday, November 10 to present to sophomore students during IDEA period. On Tuesday, November 25 sophomores will spend the day touring the Southern Hills campus and labs. RULH Athletic Boosters will be hosting a winter sports kickoff on November 16th. The event will start with a parade beginning at the elementary school and ending at the high school building. The parade will consist of Junior and Senior High girls and boys basketball players, cheerleaders, and coaches led by the RULH marching band. The boosters are encouraging float entries from the Junior High and High School buildings. Parade line up will be at the Elementary School starting at 3:30 with the parade starting at approximately 4:30. The float can represent your class or a student organization. Floats should promote school spirit and positive behavior. A plaque will be presented to the best class float as well as the best student organization float. The boosters will be serving hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks at the high school starting at approximately 5:30 and it will be free to all that attend. Members of each winter sport team will be announced as well as the members of the band starting at 6:00. The evening will end with other planned activities. Come out and support the athletes and students of RULH School District. The Ripley Ridge Runner 4H club will be sponsoring a haunted house at Logans Gap next weekend. Friday and Saturdays from 8-midnight and the cost is $6. The RULH Music Department is interested in starting a show choir! Any interested student should fill out a sign up sheet located in the main office. We will be singing pop music with choreography. To start this group, we will need 25 committed young individuals, with at least 12 men and 12 women. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Young. The Athletic Department is selling Blue Jay Nation vinyls for your back window. The decals are $10 and all profits go to support sports in our school. See Mr. Maiberger if you are interested. The Southern Hills Athletic Conference awards will be held tonight at 7:00 at North Adams High School. We have beef jerky if you would like to sell it! See Mrs. Skinner for details. The money goes to provide student incentives. The Aug/Sept issue of the Blue Jay Beat is currently online. To see the new issue go to the schools homepage and the BlueJay Beat link is under student links. Safeway Driving School will be offering driver education classes beginning Saturday, November 1st. If interested, stop by the office for details. Anyone interested in joining FCCLA must have their $20 dues paid by October 31, 2014. Extra yearbooks are available from Mrs. Ream. The cost is $45. We have applications for Leo Club in the office. You do not have to fill out an application if you are already a member.
