Risda clerk probed for CBT JOHOR BARU: An accounts clerk, who is entrusted with issuing payment cheques to smallholders and contractors at a Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) branch here, is now being investigated for issuing cheques and depositing them into her own personal account. The woman, in her 30s, had been siphoning the money from Risda’s account for almost several months before her superiors detected it during an audit check recently. Sources said internal investigations showed that the woman had allegedly issued at least 34 cheques to her own account with amounts totalling more than RM150,000. Investigations showed that the woman has been siphoning the money between March and December last year. However, the Risda official only lodged a police report several days ago. Sources said her actions went unnoticed as each of the cheques, which were deposited into her personal account, was of a small sum. Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Din Ahmad, when contacted, confirmed that they received a report and investigation was being carried out under Section 408 of the Penal Code for Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT). He said that so far no arrest has been made. In another CBT case, three security guards from a security company are being investigated for allegedly not depositing about RM100,000 into the bank after the money was collected from a supermarket in Sri Alam recently. Sources said the discovery was made after the supermarket’s management alerted the security company alleging that the money collected from their outlet was not deposited into its account recently. Subsequently, a police report was lodged and all three guards, aged 30, 32 and 40, had been called in for questioning. It is learnt that the men were tasked with going around several locations in Sri Alam to collect the cash money and then deposit it into the respective banks. Sources said police were now investigating whether other monies collected from other locations had also gone missing when the three were on duty.STAR
