River Flood Warning for Walton County, FL Issued by The National Weather Service Tallahassee, FL THE FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES FOR THE CHOCTAWHATCHEE RIVER NEAR BRUCE (SR 20). * UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...OR UNTIL THE WARNING IS CANCELLED. * AT 10:01 AM FRIDAY THE STAGE WAS 16.7 FEET. * MAJOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MAJOR FLOODING IS FORECAST. * FLOOD STAGE IS 13.0 FEET. * FORECAST...THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO FALL TO A STAGE OF 16.5 FEET BY TOMORROW MORNING. * IMPACT...AT 16.5 FEET...MAJOR FLOODING OCCURS ALONG THE EAST AND WEST BANKS OF THE CHOCTAHATCHEE RIVER FROM NEAR THE CONFLUENCE WITH HOLMES CREEK TO THE GULF OF MEXICO AFFECTING MANY HOMES AND FISHING CAMPS. South Walton damaged roads, Deputy Confirmed. 1.) Beach Dr. and Beach Dr. East are under approximately 4 inches of water, pond is over roadway. Road is passable, but drive slowly 2.) 300 Block of Lakeview Beach Dr - yard of the resident is under water and water is going into his house when traffic drives by. Road department notified. 3.) Big Redfish Lake is flooded – Signs posted- citizen has reported soil eroding from under the pavement and washing out. Public Works is on the way with a sump pump. 4.) County Highway 30A at Big Redfish Lake – Road is closed from Red Fish Lake to County Hwy 283 at Grayton Corners. 5.) 100 Block of Spotted Dolphin Rd has no water on roadway. 6.) Intersection of Flounder St and Porpoise St – water washing up to a house. Barriers are placed each side of the flooding. Water is about 1 feet deep. 7.) 10 Kingfish St - a hole has developed near a water main and fire hydrant, the hole and the utilities have been submerged for the duration of the day. The hole begins at the edge of the road and appears to have undermined the road. ***As of 0400, the hole is no longer collecting water drainage. 8.) Hillcrest Rd in Santa Rosa Beach, just behind Oyster Lake. Road is undermined and partially washed out. Both sides are open. Public Works has barriers up. North Walton damaged roads, Deputy confirmed. 1.) River Rd – roadway is clear 1.4 miles down River Rd and then the road is under water. 2.) Red Hill Rd and Sherwood Rd.- no water over the bridge, still passable. Caution signs still on roadway. Freeport damaged roads, Deputy confirmed. 1.) Don Graff Road –Around the 200 block of Don Graff there is 2 inches of water covering both lanes, water is not moving and ditches are still full of water.. 2.) Steelfield Rd and Bunker Rd. have water over the roadway. Cars may not be able to pass certain areas. RD was drained yesterday. Road is okay, except for about 100 yards near the 4000 block is under about 3 ft of water. Small vehicles will not get through. 3.) Big Cedar Road is not passable -water over the park, bridge and roadway. 4.) Choctawhatchee River Rd – Approximately half way down the RD, water is covering the road, and has washed out about half the road. Vehicles will not be able to get through. Signs have been posted. 5.) Cowford Rd – At 2 mile mark, the road is under water. Road is not passable. 6.) Dead River Rd – Road blocked at about 2 miles, impassable. 7.) Bay Grove RD – Barricades are still up around 1400 Block, no increase in damage. There are two sink holes next to the road but no water. 8.) Joyce Rd is almost impassable. 9.) Pate Branch Rd is still passable by one lane. The west side of the road near 20 is washed out. Road dept. has been notified.
