RiverWalk Phase II Project Completed and Open to the Public It’s open! The RiverWalk is located along the pristine St. Johns River – recognized as a Florida scenic route and the longest shoreline fishing area in Florida. RiverWalk Phase II extends the current RiverWalk a distance of 3000 feet for a total completed distance of 1.76 miles. The $6.4 million funding for this bicycle and pedestrian project was provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 and the Seminole County Second Generation Sales Tax. Please join the City of Sanford for the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of RiverWalk Phase II on Thursday, January 22 at 10am across the street from the Central Florida Regional Hospital at the intersection of Mangostine Avenue and Seminole Boulevard. After the ceremony you are invited to walk the RiverWalk Phase II with us (bring your walking shoes). The final Phase will extend the RiverWalk to its ultimate destination – to I-4 – where it will connect to the Seminole County and the Volusia County trail system – connecting the City of Sanford to the Coast-to-Coast trail. The City is currently planning and designing this project and construction should begin in 2017/2018. RiverWalk Phase II is another great amenity for our residents and visitors. The trail is now open for public use. Enjoy!
