Rivers CP Faces Sanction Over Face-off With Gov Amaechi . The Nigeria police high command, appears set to sanction the Rivers State commissioner of police, CP Joseph Mbu, over his recent face-off with the Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi. The duo have been at loggerheads over recent political crisis in the state. But the police force headquarters affirms that the governor remains the chief security officer of the state and in line with order, Mbu must report to him. LEADERSHIP gathered that Mbu’s recent actions embarrassed his superior officers and the Police Service Commission (PSC), pitching them against an incumbent governor. “His conduct and utterances is portraying the Force in a very bad light and we cannot condone that,” said a top police officer. “The police high command observed that Mbu has over-stepped his bounds by engaging an incumbent governor in a war of words, including granting press interview, forgetting that he is a public servant, who should only be seen and not heard,” noted a top police officer who did not want his name in print. It was learnt that the PSC enraged by the development may follow-up the administrative query issued to Mbu by the police high command with a punitive sanction. Reacting to the allegation, the spokesman of the PSC, Mr Ferdinand Ekpe, in a telephone conversation, said he was not aware of an official complaint lodged at the commission concerning the behaviour of the CP in Rivers State.
