Rivers: PDP Chairman, BoT Member In War Of Words Over Meeting With Amaechi: Rivers: PDP Chairman, BoT Member In War Of Words Over Meeting With Amaechi Anayo Onukwugha — Oct 21, 2014 | Leave a comment Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Felix Obuah and a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party, Chief Tonye Graham-Douglas were engaged in a war of words over an alleged secret meeting with Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt. Obuah had in a chat with newsmen on Sunday evening in Port Harcourt, alleged that Graham-Douglas, a former minister of Culture and Tourism, attended a meeting with APC chieftains at Government House, Port Harcourt, accusing him of romancing with the opposition party. He said the presence of the Kalabari-born politician in the APC meeting has vindicated the leadership of the PDP in the state that those causing crisis in the PDP were moles and agents of APC. In a swift reaction, Graham-Douglas, who is a founding member of the PDP, lambasted Obuah for labelling him as a mole planted by the APC within the ranks of the ruling party, saying that he had been in Abuja, attending the 80th birthday celebration of former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon. He said, “I did not hold a meeting with anybody today (Sunday) in Government House. I can’t be in Abuja and be in Port Harcourt at the same time. I was in Abuja for General Gowon’s 80th birthday celebration. I came into Port Harcourt just this afternoon; so, I do not know when that meeting took place. It is a blatant lie. Challenge them to prove it; the Government House is there. “Whoever says I am an APC mole needs psychiatric attention. Can you imagine that at my level, he will call his father a mole? He has no good home training; it shows that he has no pedigree for calling me a mole. I am not a member of APC. I am a founder of PDP; I am a supporter of PDP, but not the PDP that has been hijacked and they are just camouflaging and fooling everybody.” The PDP BOT member declared his support for the zoning of the governorship slot to the party, saying that it will be only fair for the party to allow the next governor of the state to come from either the riverine or Ogoni axis of the state. Graham-Douglas said, “The issue I want them to talk about is who takes over from Governor Amaechi? It has to be a riverine person or Ogoni person.
