Riverside walk from Twickenham and to Syon Park Sunday 18 August Hi Everyone, This is a lovely and varied walk starting from Twickenham in West London. Not to be missed ! We start near Eel Pie Island, famous as the launching pad for The Rolling Stones and The Who. We will pass Marble Hill House with its park. Lots of things going on here, people fishing , swans ,ducks , boats etc . Also a few bits of history along the way! Then we continue along the beautiful riverside path with marvellous views of of Richmond Hill across the other side of the river. Then through Isleworth with its views of the church and riverside pubs. We can then go into Syon Park , with Syon House, a former home of the Duke of Northumberland, with its tranquil meadow and a herd of cows ! It also has a good café and garden centre and shop. Ending at Brentford where we can get a train back to Waterloo via Clapham Junction, Vauxhall etc. trains are at 42 minutes past the hour back to London. We will probably get the 5.42pm train ( Buses and tube available also ) Meet 1240 -1255pm at London Waterloo Station ticket office to get the 13.09 train to Twickenham. Alternatively you can get on the train (Reading train ) at Vauxhall (1313pm) Clapham Junction (13.19pm, probably platform 5 or 6 ) or meet us at Twickenham at around 1330. Please check TFL website in case your local underground or train service is not running normally. The Bakerloo and Jubilee lines should be running normally on Sunday to take you to Waterloo. Do not be late to avoid missing us ! You will need to allow enough time to buy a ticket . Twickenham is in zone 5. The walk is about 7km (2.5-3 hours) Any questions etc to me by email or on 07944 352506 David
