Riverview, Chicago The Tickler Roller Coaster 1906 After Sharpshooters Park (1904-1905) changed its name to Riverview in 1906, One of three new rides that year was called the Tickler. It was a roller coaster, of sorts and was constructed to give people more physical sensations. The Tickler was designed to Jostle, jolt and jounce the riders. In circular cars they were pulled through the tunnel on swivel caster wheels with rubber bumping rings on the outside. Cars were drawn up an incline by a chain conveyor then pulled downward by gravity. They whirled back to the terminal and the passengers were violently thrown together and were so entangled they often needed to be helped from the ride. It became the most popular ride in the park for a short time.
