Riverwalk attackers sentenced to 30 years in prison Robey E. Moses, 23, and Kevin D. Richardson, 22, admitted they were responsible for beating Ashley Solesbee and Wesley Spires with a baseball bat so severely that both suffered head fractures. Moses and Domonique S. Hale, 21, admitted they were responsible for taking Vicente Mora’s vehicle and cellphone after knocking Mora unconscious on Broad Street the same night Solesbee and Spires were attacked. Judge J. David Roper accepted the plea negotiation and sentenced Moses and Richardson to 30 years in prison for attempted murder and armed robbery. He sentenced Hale to five years in prison followed by five years probation for criminal attempt to commit robbery. Mora never saw who hit him and remembered nothing that happened before waking up in the hospital, Assistant District Attorney Robert Homlar said Monday. Solesbee and Spires saw their attackers when Moses and Richardson approached them on the Riverwalk and asked to use a phone to call home, Homlar said. Spires made the call, but the two men immediately attacked the couple, who were on their first date. Spires took the brunt of the attack as he tried to protect Solesbee from the blows, Homlar said.
