Riwaz Speech in The British College to welcome H.E. British Ambassador Good morning and a very warm namaskar to her majesty’s ambassador from the United Kingdom H.E Andrew James Sparkes, Honorable Chief Executive Officer of The British College Mr. Rajen Kandel, my respected teachers, distinguished guests, of course my seniors and my dear friends from TBC. We are happy to have this moment here today. The United Kingdom and Nepal have a long history of friendship. Both of these countries have always stood together. We share a warm cultural friendship as well. The United Kingdom has always extended her hands for many kinds of support to Nepal’s Development process. Our brave gurkha soldiers supported U.K during the second world war and fought bravely till the end, we are grateful to the United Kingdom for appreciating the performances of our soldiers and still keeping the special Gurkha recruitment in the British Army Force. Lots of Nepalese are currently resident in the U.K for study or job purposes. Yet, these stories are very small part of our relationship that we hope will never end. More than that, it is our immense pleasure to share this moment with his Excellency. British Education is one of oldest and most respected education system. It is our privilege to receive this British Education locally right here at The British College in Nepal. I want to put a spotlight on this, not only British Education that has a British university’s syllabus but also a British Standard Education that defines the quality of our code and education. Our college is highly responsive to the issues of the increasing demand for rigorous, relevant learning in the various emerging fields and positive organizational development, within the everchanging modern world. While our college encourages students’-awareness of external opportunities to develop flourishing human systems, the college routine and strategy remains grounded in the belief that the self can be a powerful instrument for change, and that personal and professional development go hand in hand. The college strategy provides experiential opportunities for members to become more self-aware, to practice and experiment with new skills, and to give and receive goodwill that can be life changing. We have prestigious partnerships with two universities of the United Kingdom i.e. University of West of England and Leeds Beckett University. A partnership with Khetan Group, Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal, Three Star Football Club and Nepalese Academy of Management shows how determined the college is for its students over-all development; and today, this commitment is also going to be extended. Our honorable CEO Mr. Rajen Kandel always states, the main preparation behind these partnerships is to empower students to create a better nation by developing human potential with strength-based methods of inquiry, design and change management. Definitely, The Nepalese student Population has seen priorities shift completely within these last 5 years. The Directly targeted dreams like being a doctor or an engineer are no longer the only benchmark of educational success. The British College recognizes that today’s leaders must embrace technology, globalization, accelerated change, and provides the opportunities for students to adopt changing environment. In every day to day classroom, new elements are in play, success at a personal as well as an academic level means balancing technical, relational and human factors. That is why we focus on visionary leadership, transformative cooperation, diversity and spirituality in learning as essential for functioning multicultural and national organizations. I am proud to say that our college is all set to promote and develop leaders who will create enduring social systems that offer value to all members, cultivate the co-operative human spirit and contribute to ecologically sustainable societies besides global well-being. Saying this, I would like to conclude my speech here. My name is William Riwaj Lamichhane and with huge excitement, I welcome and embrace all of the distinguished individuals on this fortunate moment today. THANK YOU!
