Road Resurfacing in Ward 16 The City of Toronto, North York - TopicsExpress

Road Resurfacing in Ward 16 The City of Toronto, North York District, Transportation Services Division, Resurfacing Program will include work on the following roads: • Glenview Ave between Heather St to Glengrove Ave • Glengrove Ave from Glen Castle St to Glenview Ave (N/S) • Ansley St from Glengove Ave to Glenview Ave • Roe Ave from Greer Rd to Elm Rd • Willowbank Blvd from Avenue Rd to Castle Knock Rd Programmed work will include concrete and/or asphalt work within the right of way in front of your house. Construction will start on or about July 21, 2014 and should be completed by November 28, 2014. The time spent on the street may vary due to the nature of the construction required. Residents with disability are requested to contact the City Inspector within the earliest possible time, so that the contractor can maintain access to the driveways as the construction work progresses. The various construction crews will be on site to carry out any excavations, adjusting maintenance holes, repairing curbs, adjusting catch basins, road grinding, existing sidewalk repairs, driveway repairs, resurfacing and sod repairs. DURING SOD INSTALLATION, WE REQUEST HOMEOWNERS TO WATER THE NEW SOD IN FRONT OF THEIR PROPERTY TO ENSURE PROPER GROWTH. Property owners having sprinkler heads and/or other installations that encroach Citys boulevards are subjected to Article IV and V of Chapter 743 Use of Streets and Sidewalks, of Toronto Municipal Code. The City will not be responsible for any construction damages to the boulevard encroachments. In order to complete curb, sidewalk and driveway repairs, it will be necessary to interrupt access to your driveway. The City Parking Control Officers will be advised not to issue tickets for “Parking in Excess of 3 Hours” on streets affected by this programme. TICKETS WILL STILL BE ISSUED FOR OTHER VIOLATIONS such as parking too close to the corner or fire hydrants or other parking restricted areas. When asphalt is being placed on the roadways, boulevards or driveways, you should be aware that it is placed at fairly high temperatures and will take some time to cool to an ambient temperature especially during July and August. Please inform members of your household of this potential hazard. Also, prior to placement of top asphalt, the curb, match joints and sometimes the entire roadway is coated with a “tack coat”. This is required in order to bond the two layers of asphalt together. This black material is very sticky and you should avoid contact when walking or driving in the area. It can be removed using everyday household solvents. Your patience during this disruption would be greatly appreciated.
