Road Trip To Alabama Day 9: I left Arkansas and drove across the Mississippi River into... you guessed it... Mississippi! I again chose back roads across the entire state and stopped for coffee here and there at little highway intersection convenience stores. Most of the folks I met were black and really laid back. In these convenience store they sell fried fast food. I could see why Mississippians tend to have the worst health and weight of all the States! I was impressed with the friendliness and sociability of everyone... folks would say hello or wave and acknowledge our mutual existence. I crossed the Alabama border and things seemed to pick up a bit economically. I arrived in Birmingham at 6:30 and took all the girls out to the Golden Corral (there was a chocolate fondue fountain... chicks love that kind of stuff!). We stayed up and talked well after midnight. Today is Day 10... I think we are all going to the matinee "to see Johnny Depp"...
