Road closures in Meade County KY 333 At KY 2199 In Meade County To Be Closed Tuesday Through Thursday Production Company To Transform Asphalt Road Into An 1800’s Era Dirt Road For Movie Shoot In Big Springs Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials are honoring a request to issue a permit for closure of KY 333 at the KY 2199 intersection in Meade County beginning Tuesday, October 29th. The closure is in the southeast corner of Meade County, near the Breckinridge and Hardin County lines. It will allow crews from Antebellum Pictures to layer a dirt surface over the existing asphalt in order to create an 1861 setting for a movie shoot. KYTC Chief District Engineer, Patty Dunaway says the Elizabethtown office receives several requests per year to close area roads. Dunaway stated, “Other events such as fall festivals and parades require closures that we permit throughout the district on a regular basis.” Local residents should be aware of a signed detour that will be in effect. Those traveling east on KY 333 from Breckinridge County will be detoured north to Bewleyville by turning right on KY 1238, right on KY 1735 and back to KY 333 to go south toward Big Springs. Those traveling northwest on KY 220 from Hardin County heading to Breckinridge County will follow this detour route in reverse. Mobile message boards will be set up to alert motorists of the upcoming detour. During the closure, emergency vehicles will be allowed to go through the closure. The roadway should reopen by Thursday afternoon (October 31st). All dirt will be removed and the road inspected for safety before motorists are allowed to travel on the roadway.
