Roadrunner Recap: Basketball, Hockey, Wrestling Nazareths Wrestling Team took third in Regional Competition at R-B on Saturday and will advance to Sectional Competition this weekend. Congratulations to Brian Kavanaugh 16, who took 1st Place in 152 lb. category to advance. Also advancing are Matt Spiller 14 (2nd in 138 lb.), Jack Bonaguro 15 (3rd in 145 lb.), Ivory Kelly-Martin 17 (3rd in 170 lb.), Decxavier Kelly-Martin 15 (2nd in 195 lb.), Mike Moran 14 (2nd in 220 lb.) and Dmitri Joe 15 (2nd in 285). The Boys Basketball Program gave a great effort over this past weekend. The sophomore Roadrunners were victorious both on Friday night vs. Francis Parker and Saturday vs. Peoria Notre Dame. The Varsity defeated Francis Parker on Friday by a score of 68 – 47. All nine seniors scored and contributed in the win. Kevin Connelly had a game high of 21 points and Evan McLaughlin had 10 rebounds. On Saturday night the Roadrunners traveled to Peoria Notre Dame and gave a great effort before falling to the host school by a score of 63 – 61. Kevin Connelly led all scorers with 24, Michael Brooks added 21, and Christian Davis added 8 off the bench. Kevin Connelly also hauled down a game high 8 rebounds. This Friday the Roadrunners are back home in the Rooney Center as they take on ESCC rival Benet Academy. Come on out and support their efforts. Varsity Hockey had two big victories this weekend. Friday night against Lake Park and again on Sunday for senior night, the team came out shooting and beat the Kankakee Irish!
