Rob In For Deano RANGERS boss Ally McCoist makes just one change to his side for this evening’s League One encounter with Airdrie at New Broomfield. Robbie Crawford comes into the side which began the 3-0 victory over Stranraer in south-west Scotland six days ago. He replaces Dean Shiels, who drops to the bench after making his first start in more than five months following a medial knee ligament injury last week. Otherwise it’s the same personnel who line up for the Light Blues as they look to continue their good start to their bid for a second successive title and promotion. Crawford comes in on the right side of midfield, with Andy Little moving up front alongside Jon Daly following his first goal of the campaign last time out. Ian Black also starts at the end of a turbulent week in which betting allegations were made against him by the SFA. He’s the holding midfielder in a 4-1-3-2 shape, with Nicky Law and Lewis Macleod the other players in front of him. Scott Gallacher continues in goal with a four-man defence of Kyle McAusland, captain Lee McCulloch, Sebastien Faure and Lee Wallace featuring too. With Law and Daly both starting, this is their final game for the side prior to their registration when the club’s transfer embargo ends. The new signings have both played their permitted three league fixtures as trialists, along with the Ramsdens Cup first round tie with Albion Rovers last month. In turn, that means the pair will miss next week’s meetings with Berwick and East Fife at Ibrox. Included on the bench for the first time in 2013/14 is Charlie Telfer after his winner for the under-20 side in their 3-2 victory at Ross County on Tuesday. Alan Smith, Luca Gasparotto, David Templeton, Fraser Aird and Andy Murdoch are the remaining replacements. This is Rangers’ first fixture against Airdrie since a League Cup in October 2001, which Dick Advocaat’s team won 3-0. It’s also the first league meeting of these sides since the 1992/93 and Gers are unbeaten in 24 games against the Diamonds.
