Robert Bruno Update October 31, 2103 Dear Friends, If all his tests go well this week, Robert will be back to work early next month. He will have to return to Ann Arbor every two weeks for check-ups, but with Mr. Goswami’s help and our wonderful golf shop staff, we will not miss a beat. Everyone in the Pro Shop is committed to seeing that Robert can continue working while receiving his on-going care at the University of Michigan Hospital. It is too early to know if the infusion of embryonic cells into his upper spinal cord will have the hoped for results of slowing down the progression of this disease in his upper body. He was treated at the University of Michigan Hospital instead of at Mass General because their experimental program has not yet started with either bone marrow or embryonic cells. His doctor, who spoke here last April, agreed he should be in the earliest trial program available as time in ALS is of the essence. While Robert has been in treatment in Ann Arbor, Sarah, working with Michael Leibowitz, found a wonderful ranch house in a family friendly neighborhood that can easily be converted for wheelchair accessibility if or when it becomes necessary. Sarah, Gio and Sienna are all moved in, almost settled and anxious for Robert to see their new home. Our community continues to be amazing - hundreds of letters, cards, books and emails were sent to Robert in these past few weeks. They helped to brighten his day and feel our love from Frenchman’s Creek. Our thanks to everyone! Richard Fleisher and Michael Azeez
