Robert Cisneros sent this picture to me yesterday. This one will make you smile and tear up at the same time. This is my father standing in front of the van that was used to deliver chicharrones throughout the Valley. He made the fried pork skins in an old black witches kettle in the back yard. Eventually his business grew, and he moved his operation across the street from the current H.E.B. The fire pt that he grilled meats on is visible in the background as well as part of the Raul Cisneros Grocery Store. He grilled meats every Saturday, and sold grilled meats to go. Clients gathered there socially and sang while the meat was grilling in the evenings. A highlight might be when Mr. Francisco Grajales would show up. Mr. Grajales, a dear friend to my father, was a local Spanish disc jockey at KSOX, and most notably the best known, loved celebrity for the Hispanic community. My father was a cheerful, kind and generous man. He was a hard working man. He was a good father, husband, and Christian. He was very smart. My father was an entrepreneur. He was a risk taker.
