Robert Downey Jnr has still not made up his mind about carrying on Posted on April 21, 2013 by Stark Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jnr has stated that he is still undecided about whether or not he will continue the role as Marvel’s Iron Man. At the premiere of the third exciting instalment of the series in London, he has admitted that he had not made up his mind about which path he will take. He said: “Right now the future is uncertain, but I think it’s very important that we end this first Marvel phase in a way that is definitive and has people asking questions.” Don Cheadle Don Cheadle at the premiere of Iron Man 3 Don Cheadle (Downey’s co-star better known as “Rhode or War Machine”) commented that he was intent on persuading the star to take up the iron suit again. Cheadle joked: “I’m going to threaten him that I’ll let all his secrets out and then maybe we’ll see if he can come back!” The story of the Iron Man 3 movie picks up directly after last year’s Avengers Assemble, which became the third highest-grossing movie of all time. From the “Avengers” film alone, Downey Jnr suggested that he earned $50m, which was thanks to a profit-sharing deal he made with the Marvel studio and Disney. Superhero movies have proved indestructible at the box office, with the Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man series all passing the $1bn (£760m) grossing mark. Marvel Superheros Downey Jnr says good storylines and a sense of humour are the key to a franchise’s success. “When the first one came out people said they appreciated how witty it was and so we’ve tried to keep up that tradition.” He first played took on the role in 2008 and the latest film sees him pitted against a mysterious criminal dubbed The Mandarin, played by Sir Ben Kingsley. “The script and the direction allowed me to have so many layers. It’s very far from two dimensional – my character is wonderful,” he explained. Oscar-winner Sir Ben was also full of praise for his co-star. He said: “Robert’s character always allows himself to become a little bit vulnerable- there’s the iron suit and then what’s inside that suit.
