Robert McLaughlin Bible Ministries New England Bible Conference 2004. your personal sense of destiny. Part 1. Tuesday, August 3, 2004 ISA 55:8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways, For as the heavens are higher than the earth?, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. “Why have I been created and what am I here for?” Through understanding your personal sense of destiny, you will know God’s purpose for your life and will understand how all the pieces of your life can fit together. If you really believe that God has a plan and a purpose for your life, your very own personal sense of destiny, this divine perspective will reduce stress in your life, clarify what decisions you need to make, increase your contentment - and prepare you for all eternity. Only one life, ‘twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last. Today the average life span is around 73 years or around 26,645 days for males, and around 79 years or 28,835, for the females. you have the same opportunity as everyone else to advance to spiritual maturity and have your personal sense of destiny glorify God, if you choose. If you have the right priorities you will have a life of freedom - JOH 8:32 “you will know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” If you have the wrong priorities you will have a life of bondage and claim with the apostle Paul - ROM 7:24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, everything started with Him and everything finds its purpose in Him. your personal sense of destiny is more important than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions, LUK 14:26-27. you were born by His will and for His purpose. JOH 1:13 you were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. ISA 43:7 Everyone who is called by My name, I have created for My glory, I have formed, I have made them. We typically begin at the wrong starting point - ourselves. We ask self-centered questions like, “What do I want to be?” “What should I do with MY life?” What are MY goals, MY ambitions, MY dreams for My future?” Contrary to popular opinion, you will not discover the real meaning and purpose of your life by looking within yourself. ROM 7:18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; you did not create yourself, so how can you tell yourself what you were created for? JOB 38:4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?? Tell Me, if you have understanding,” JOB 40:3-5 Job answered: “I’m speechless, in awe - words fail me. I should never have opened my mouth! I’ve talked too much, way too much. I’m ready to shut up and listen.” you cannot arrive at the real meaning and purpose of your life by starting with focusing on yourself. you were made by God and for God and until you understand that, life will never make sense. ISA 45:12 It is I who made the earth?, and created man upon it. I stretched out the heavens with My hands, And I ordained all their host. It is only “in God” that we discover our true origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our personal sense of destiny. God has assigned to you a number of days to live on this earth?, PSA 90:12; 31:15. PSA 90:12 “Teach us to number our days, That we may present to Thee a hearth? of wisdom.” PSA 31:15 “My times are in Thy hand.” God has given us an assignment - to fulfill our personal sense of destiny - and God has also given us a certain amount of time to fulfill this destiny. EPH 5:16 Make the most of your time, because the days are evil. ISA 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, I have created for My glory, Those whom I have formed, even whom I have made.” REV 4:11 “Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed, and were created.” The only time we possess to honor God in this life is the number of days He provides for us in the Christian life, PSA 90:12; JAM 4:13-15. JAM 4:14 “Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. you are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” LAM 3:22-23 “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness.” JOB 23:12 “I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” “Treasured” - tsaphan = to esteem; to admire, appreciate, respect, and even worship. PSA 56:4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; PSA 56:10 In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, Whose Word I praise, PSA 102:23 “In the course of my life, He broke my strength, He cut short my days.” EPH 5:16-17 Constantly buying time, because the days are evil. [you purchase time with doctrine, doctrine is the capital needed to buy time] Because of this, stop being ignorant, but completely understand the will [purpose] of the Lord. One of the things that makes time so important is the fact that it is so rare, it is irretrievable. The greatest utilization for one’s life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. This verse does not say that there is a time to be conceived and a time to die. It says “a time to give birth” because time begins at birth, not in the womb. Regardless of the circumstances and events that surround your birth, God gave you life at that moment, so that was the right time for you to be born. EPH 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, MAT 25:34 Then the King will say to those on His right, “Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” gbible.org
